On 3 June 2026, educators from across Namibia gathered for an Ocean Literacy Toolkit seminar aimed at strengthening environmental education and equipping teachers with practical tools to integrate ocean-related content into their classrooms.
The seminar introduced participants to the Ocean Literacy Toolkit, a resource developed to support teaching and learning about the ocean’s influence on people and people’s influence on the ocean. Throughout the day, teachers explored innovative ways to incorporate ocean literacy concepts into existing curricula, demonstrating how marine conservation can be connected to a wide range of subjects.
The NIMPA+ project team extends its sincere appreciation to the School Environmental Clubs of Namibia for their valued partnership in supporting the seminar and helping to strengthen environmental education initiatives across the country. Gratitude is also extended to Arebbusch Travel Lodge for their generous hospitality in hosting the event.
The seminar forms part of ongoing efforts under the NIMPA+ Project to advance ocean literacy in Namibia and create meaningful connections between learners, educators, and the country’s marine ecosystems. By empowering teachers with knowledge and practical resources, the initiative aims to ensure that the next generation is equipped to understand, appreciate, and protect Namibia’s ocean heritage.
